Could someone tell me why it is that when i place a new cell within a table and
use the extension lines marked by neighboring cells, the new cell almost always
is larger than the extension lines it snaps to? When i try to then manually
reduce the size of the cell to the dimensions of the neighboring ones, it
doesn't allow me to do that even before putting anything in it.

many thanks,

Paul

I think you are in table 'layout' mode hell. Get out of it !! Get into
design/code view and learn how to insert a table. A cell will be as wide as
what it contains. Learn how to build tables from the ground up. Look at
the code... Check out the following tutorial which may be of help:
http://www.dwfaq.com/Tutorials/Tabl...ible_tables.asp
More articles at both links in my sig...

Also, do not drag the borders, this will cause you many more problems. Let
the contain inside your cells determine the width of the cells, or specify a
width of your cells in your stylesheet.

What is the question? You want to add a height to a table tag? It's
invalid code, you know?

Using the code directly to adjust the numbers seems to work in most cases.
Sometimes though, I find the code doesn't give an option to change the
dimensions. In one case, I have a table with cells in it. Some repeated page
layouts have a row(horizontal) without a cell but one of those pages has a
higher table. I've gone into the code, but it gives a number for the width but
not the height.

How can I fix this?
