| Hi,
I'd like to create an email form on my site.
At the mo I've got a standard mailto: type form but they have many shortcomings
I'd like to make a cgi form, are there any good tutorials online for how to do
this?

| Formmail is a very popular choice among non Dynamic language users.

| Yes, you do need some sort of server side scripting to process the form.
The most used method I guess would be the standard FormMail.cgi.
Most hosts provide this for you. Check your hosts' faq page to see if this
is available for you to use.
It is then a matter of adding a bit of code to your already designed forms.

| thanks I'll have a look at formmail.
I haven't used any cgi before so it should be fun! :)

| Hi,
I'd recommend that you take a look at FormBreeze
(http://www.formbreeze.com). We use this for all our forms and it is
the best solution I have seen with capabilities way beyond formmail
scrips.

| it's a pay third party solution- there are many of them out there.
What most people here prefer is to help people install their own scripts and
process forms themselves. Very little time is needed to learn this skill.
And if pays off very well- if the alternative is to pay an outside company
7.95/month for use of a formmail script....
Please don't tag every form question here with this answer- it's looking
like commercial solicitation.

| The very first thing to do-
Check your hosting's FAQ and Support section for info about pre-installed
form to email scripts. Many of the "Control Panels" or CPanels have buttons
to install a fixed formmail script with a click of the mouse, and links to
FAQ on how to use it.
If there are none pre-installed, what server side scripting can you use on
this hosting? ASP PHP Cgi-Perl ? Narrow it down and people will make
suggestions.
some popular ones-
cgi-Perl: http://nms-cgi.sourceforge.net nms-formmail
PHP: http://boaddrink.com -->phpformmail
I'd suggest using the nms script over the Matt Wright script.
For tutorials on setting it up-
