can't remember how to change (in DWMX) the default contents of the head and
doctype for when a new document is created...e.g.

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
"http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
<title>Untitled Document</title>
</head>

i'd like to add the 2 META tages to this (description and keywords)

and also would like to know if i should add <html lang="en"> ? or "sp" for
content in Spanish?

David,

Take a look at:

Program Files => Macromedia => DW (whichever version you want to alter) =>
configuration => Document Types

The file you want is: MMDocumentTypes.xml

I'd suggest you make a copy of the file before changing anything.

Actually, the proper program is -

Program Files\Macromedia\Dreamweaver MX 2004\Configuration\Document
Types\NewDocuments\Default.html (for static HTML pages).

Please make a backup first.
