Hi guys,
can someone help me out.I will have to do an assignment which requires me to
develop web application using outsource software. can dreamweaver considered a
free software?can it be run on linux?

Dreamweaver free? No, I don't think so. There is not a native Linux
version.

Not to sound condescending, but I just checked out that site (nvu.com)

From what I can see, NVu doesn't do any dynamic work. So if you wanted
to build an application using PHP/MySQL, unless you know the code like
the back of your hand, I would not recommend using this software. I
would hook up with a Windows PC, buy a copy of DW MX 2004 (gotta support
my favorite company!!) and start coding.

Use the linux pc as a web server if you wanted to, in order to test your
apps on an open-source OS.

Just my 2 cents, adjusted for inflation (and the rising cost of oil).
