| Hello all,
Well, I've just switched over from DW3 to MX and am having problems with
dropping in our 'objects' specifically made for my company. With DW3, we could
just drop them into the DW 'objects' folder and BAM, there they were. Now,
with MX, apparently I can't just drop them in, I have to tell the
'insertbar.xml' page that I have these new objects to use. Why have they done
this? It certainly doesn't make it easier, which I thought was the whole point
ot DW.
Can anyone help out with this? Is there a way to do it without having to
write out the code in the .xml page?
Thanks a lot!

| Hello demarch,
Macromedia made quite a few changes with the architecture for objects in MX,
and again in MX 2004. You will have to modify the insertbar.xml file as
you've come to find out. I found the easiest way to do the modifications is
to make an MXP out of your extension, and the Extension Manager will write
that code for the insertbar.xml file automatically for you. Now, given that
it does it automatically, you may or may not get the results you hope for,
but usually it turns out fine.
If you get in a major bind, and need someone to make the MXP files for you,
feel free to contact me off list (remove the CAPS) and I can give you a
quote and the name of at least one other extension developer who may be
interested.
Good luck,
~Angela
