| hello again you lovely helpful people.
Got a problem that will probably be easy to solve, but its a pain in the
whatssit for me at the moment.
I think for this, I need to post my website, so you will know what I am on
about. Its: www.car-leasing-direct.co.uk
The problem is: I want to alter the menu bar that is running down on the
right hand side of the page, I want to add new page links and add in a 'Site
Map' feature. I want to do this so hopefully it will give me a PR5 - Im stuck
on PR4 :(
Anyway..... I have gone into the templates folder on DW and altered main.dwt.
I clicked save and it asked me if I would like to change all pages that have
this same template format, it saved, or so I thought - The main page has not
changed on the right hand side and I am really quizzed as to why.
If anyone has any ideas, please is it possible for you to give me easy
instructions as to how I can do this. I have 3 PR5 sites wanting to link to
me, but won't until I have done this update.
Just to also let you know, how the site was done in the 1st place was that I
designed it and a company put it together for me, so now I have taken over the
design - I am teaching myself.
Thanks in advance for your time to read this and your help.
Cheers
Paul

| Paul:
Changes to your template only affect the child pages in your local site.
After being updated, you must then upload them to the server again. The
template files themselves have no function outside of Dreamweaver, hence on
the server.
Here are five ways to make changes not propagate from Template to child -
1. Rename the Templates folder
2. Move the Templates folder to some other folder level in the site other
than root level
3. Move a template out of the Templates folder.
4. Make changes to an editable region of the template (which will not
propagate)
5. Corrupt the site cache so that the link between template and child page
is broken
The latter problem can be repaired by using SITE | Advanced > Recreate Site
Cache, and the three others can be fixed by just not doing them. Have you
done any of those?
