Author Templates and table width issues

Hello,
I am just learning how to use templates...forgive the lack of knowledge. I've
built a template, have built pages using the template, all works perfectly
except for one huge problem...if content is placed within the editable region
whose width exceeds the overall table width, it expands the rows above out too
far to accomodate the "too bigness" of the added content and the design looks
weird. Is there anyway to lock down the width of the editable region in a
template so that a user, say either also using dreamweaver or contribute, can
plunk content into the editable regions without constantly worrying that they
are screwing up the design? Me included :)

I tried nesting the area I'm worried about my client bumping the design around
with but still if you add a table to it which is wider than the parent table
the design gets stretched out. I'd like the overall table it's built in to be
"firm" on width...not expandable. Does that make sense? The area I want to be
editable needs to be a table as my customer and I both go in and drop product
photos/tables into this area all the time, so it won't work for it just to be a
line of text. I tried excluding table width in the "make attribute editable"
area but that didn't work, although I could have done it wrong.

Thanks so much in advance..I appreciate it!

Your problem has nothing to do with templates and everything to do with
tables. Tables will always expand to contain what you put in them. The
only way to prevent that would be to use the table-layout CSS to make
them rigid, but I would be concerned because browser support is probably
going to be an issue with making that work.

Thanks for the reply..I appreciate it. Is there any way you can think of to prevent the right edge from getting stretched out then?
Thanks,

Convince the client not to put anything too wide in it. ;-) Sorry,
that's the best I've got.
