How do I get rid of that Lycos search fold-out thingy in IE6?
(And how did it get there?)

Or, if you don't trust Lycos's instructions, you could run one or more of
the standard spyware removal tools - Adaware
(http://www.lavasoftusa.com/) or Spybot S+D
(http://www.safer-networking.org/). As with other security tools,
install them, then get updated config files, then run them. My
experience has been that Spybot catches more than Adaware, but both are
good.

As to how - I'm not saying Internet Explorer is a security risk. Oh, no,
I'm not. But you can put code on a web page which, when the page is
opened in IE, will install all sorts of malware on your computer, even if
you are patched to the most recent and 'secure' version of IE.

Thanks Joe *Makowiec* :-)

And thanks for adding a brilliant word to my English vocabulary: "Malware".
Now it's 9.30 p.m. here and a film on the tube. Will relax, pop a brew
and take you up on the hints tomorrow.

Cheers,
