Author Really basic help with dynamic page

Forgive me -- I'm totally new to creating dynamic pages. Could someone please
walk me through the steps I'd need to do the following:

I want a list of items on the page. Viewers can choose one and put their name
next to it so that the next person won't choose the same item.

It doesn't seem that difficult, but I'm not sure where to start. Thank you for
guiding a newbie! Jane
