I think that if it is related to Macromedia products, it is.

Thats not true because

<quote by="forum guidelines">
10:NO ADVERTISING OR SOLICITATION PLEASE!

Macromedia reserves the right to remove "spam" posts. Information about
third-party products or updates may be posted to:

news://forums.macromedia.com/macrom...l.announcements
http://webforums.macromedia.com/announcements/
</quote>

So we are all guilty of spamming whether its a commericial product or
free product being advertised on any forum other than the above two
mentioned in the guidelines.

ranjan:

Strictly speaking, and according to the letter of that FAQ, all solicitation
is prohibited. And you're right. We have all done it.

On the other hand, the conventional community spirit here seems (to me) to
be - if you are a contributor to the group's knowledge, a helpful person,
and generally pleasant like me, then your occasionaly commercial messages
are tolerated.

What seems to get slammed is a) off topic commercial posts (the "make money
fast" ones), or posts from people who *never* help other than by promoting a
product (a couple spring to mind). I think.

Well, not really. This one bypassed some of our filters. Normally we
would have caught this posting and deleted it up front, so please do not
respond to it further.

Announcements that directly relate to our products have been *loosely*
accepted here for some time, but should be prefixed with an 'ANN:' or
similar prefix (this will be reflected in the guidelines shortly) so
people can filter them out as needed. Random commercial postings will
continue to be against the guidelines, sorry for the extra noise.

Thanks!
