Author update library
jamination

i'm having problems with the library updating my pages. my library item, for
example, will have an image that i will change the link. when i go to save, it
will ask to update pages. which it proceeds and then it will say it updated
the correct pages. however, when i open the page, the library item did not
update.

the page construction has the library item in a table.

i thought it may be a software problem, unless anyone else has a reason for
it?

Please show me the code in your library item and a target page.

By the way, attachments are discouraged for this and other Macromedia
forums, and to make matters worse, they do not carry forward from the
webforums into the NNTP forums, which is where most of the people who post
answers are visiting. If you want to broadcast your code so that everyone
can see it, the really only way is a) to paste it into a reply (not great if
there is lots of code), or b) to upload it somewhere and post a URI to it.

i set up an example page on our web site. as i was building the page, i
noticed it works (updating) when the page is open in dreamweaver. as soon as i
closed the page, it stopped updating. i did several test and got the same
result.

let me know if you have trouble with the page.

could you explain that differently??
What do you mean by (updating) ??

nevermind, i looked at the link.

http://www.jamination.com/library/baseball/test.lbi

First- Do NOT put subfolders in the Library folder, or in the Templates
folder.
Move this file up one level so it is in the Library folder, then check all
the links in it.

First addendum: the folder must be named Library not library

Second- It is a complete document- It shouldn't be.

Open the library item.

go into code view, and delete this from top of file:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
<html>
<head>
<title>Untitled Document</title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
</head>

<body>

Then, delete this from bottom of file.
</body>
</html>

then check the links again, then delete the Library item (with the wrong
path to the subfolder) from any existing pages; and insert the new corrected
one.

??

That's kind of a whiney thing to jump into a different thread with, wouldn't
you agree?

reasonable guesses why you didn't get a response:

You post had the subject line of " Please Help"
That gives no info about what it might be about.

your message:
"I am new to this and I have no clue how to add mp3 files to the library in
Dreamweaver. Can someone please help me by explaining how to do it?"

I just don't know what you are asking.

Do you want to put a link to an mp3 in a Dreamweaver "Library Item" so you
can reuse that code on many pages?

Or- are you trying to link to an mp3 file and can't?
If that's it- Just make a regular link, and link to the mp3 file.
(if making any link is the problem- Open the HELP files)

first-suggest having the filename of the mp3 file have no blank spaces or
punctuation in it.
Then, put the mp3 file in your site someplace.
Type the words you want to show in the link.
Select them. Make the Link. browse to the mp3 file using the LINK box in the
Property inspector.

upload the mp3 file.
upload the html page that has the link.
does it work?

If that's not the question- could you try asking it again, in different
words?
