Forum is SLOW!!!!!

| This forum is AGONIZINGLY slow. It can take several minutes just to open a
thread or do a search. This is making it essentially useless.
Someone posted a while back that it was faster to use newsgroups, but I can't
find a way to do this in Outlook Mac:2001 (which is all that's available at
this office). They probably posted some instructions, but if so it will take me
an hour or more to track that thread down again at this rate.
I simply can't use Macromedia's Website. How does this sell Macromedia as a
developer of Website solutions? I wish they'd "fix" their interface to make it
a little bit user-friendly, but in the mean time is there any way of just
getting this forum to work like every other forum I've ever used anywhere else
on the Internet? I.e., quickly and smoothly? Or if not, set it up to work as a
newsgroup in Outlook Mac:2001?

| Not seeing this here (working remotely at the moment), the forum is actually
quite zippy for me right now. This may be related to your physical/logistical
location- may I ask where you're at geographically? If you do a traceroute to
www.macromedia.com, how many hops are you seeing?

| "If you do a traceroute to www.macromedia.com, how many hops are you seeing?"
"Jibloddy dipcusis plippy morgop?"
I can't even figure out how to set up a newsgroup in Outlook, and you're
asking me to "do a traceroute"? I suspect I know what you're asking, actually,
but I'm clueless as to how to accomplish it.

| There is nothing to setting up a newsgroup. Just click on this link:

| lol!
Point made, Chandler- traceroutes are one of those arcane command-line tasks
that not everyone is aware of, let alone comfortable with. Sorry for the gross
assumption on my part.
Short answer- I'm getting pretty snappy responses from the web forums using a
remote Internet connection right now (i.e. I'm outside the Macromedia network),
so the slowness you're seeing may be directly related to your geographic
location and/or the amount of 'hops' a request to our server needs to make
across the Internet from your virtual location. If you're also seeing general
sluggishness across the Macromedia web site in general, then I'd highly suspect
that this may be the case. If you have any specfics on this you could share
I'm happy to pass them to the web team for consideration.
Thx!
-Scott
