This works perfectly for me.

Also works perfectly for me.

What is different between our systems?

I am using Win 2000 Pro as well. I have no idea why this is happening.
Yesterday tech support had me delete the config file and start over... after
doing that you could at least type a URL in the link box and it would work but
I can not paste a url in the link box.. it replaces the text... very
discouraging and frustrating.

I am on Mac OS X 10.3 and experience no problems cutting and pasting URLs
into the property inspector.

Experimental workaround: Have you tried cutting and pasting URLs into
another program such as Notepad? Does that work? If so, maybe you can
experiment with this: (1) enter some dummy text for the URL in the property
inspector, (2) go copy your URL, (3) switch to Code View and hilite the
dummy text, (4) in Code View, attempt to replace the hilited dummy text with
the real URL by hitting ctl-V (paste). If that does not work try to replace
it by right clicking and selecting "Paste".

Does this work?

Well... that was a partial solution...

Ctrl_V DOES allow me to paste the URL in the Link box of the property
inspector.... HOWEVER..
place your cursor in the link box and try to either use the paste command or
Shift-Insert... It will replace the text you are trying to make a hyperlink.

Now, try doing the same thing after you click on the folder Icon next to the
link box and try using any method to paste the link into the URL box there...
click ok after you have done this then examine the URL of the link:
Dreamweaver truncates the URL.. removing the http://www.xxx.xxx/ and only
leaving the rest of the path to the file.. which, of course, will not work.

clicking the FOLDER icon in the prop. inspector is for browsing to, and
choosing, LOCAL files in your site. It is not for pasting an external
http:// url.

That may be one of the things they "fixed" as I could do it before I installed the 7.0.1 updater.

OK... guess Ctrl-V is the only way it will allow you to do this.

Thanks for the help.
