i'm going to try my best to describe this. i'm creating categories for
services which i will provide (modeling, retouching etc.). i want to create
rollovers for each category. for example, when you roll over "retouching" i'll
have a swap image setup to show an explanation and another swap image below
that with a visual example. here's what i can't figure out. i want the person
then to be able to roll over the image to show before and afters. essentially
creating 2 levels of rollovers. i've figured that i can not have swap image
restore active so that the description will stay visible (until you scroll over
another category)... BUT how do i then enable the reference image to also
swap back and forth between before and after? i hope i'm explaining this
correct. any thoughts? or can anyone point me to a tutorial. i'll gladly
look it up myself.
thanks in advance.

Why not create a diagram of what you want. I am not clear on exactly what
that is.

i'm at work so i don't have access to anything as far as diagramming something.
let me try one more explanation. i'll be allowing selections of say 5
different services. you roll over "modelling" and i'll have a swap image set
up to swap in a discription and also an example image (2 separate swaps in 2
different areas of the page). you roll over "retouching" and it will swap one
description image (text really) and one example image. etc. etc. i can do
that no problem. basically each separate category will swap 2 images. here's
what i can't figure out. i will (i guess?) turn off swap image restore so the
images and descriptions will stay viewable. i'd like to then be able to roll
over the image to reveal a "before" version. I could just link each category
to a new page and do it that way. i'm just trying to see if i can achieve it
without doing that. i hope this makes sense. if not, i'll try to diagram it
later.
thanks for any help.

jack:

I may understand what you are trying to do.

Let me ask - you are swapping in images that contain the descriptive text?
You know that's a bad idea, right?

Anyhow, since links are part of the page, and not part of the image, you
cannot swap in a new image with links that do not also appear on the page
eithout that image being swapped. In other words, the new links will be
present on the 'dummy' image before the swap occurs. I'm sure that's not
what you want.

The way around this is to not use image swaps, but you use SHOW/HIDE layers
instead. Now you can reveal a layer containing a NEW image that has its own
links and behaviors. When this layer is invisible, the links are invisible
as well. When the layer is visible, the links become visible.

That's the approach I would use for something like what I think you are
trying to do.

thanks for the help. so that i'm clear. i can use show/hide layers for each
of the services (model, retouching etc.) to show the respective description and
reference image layer for each category. then i can attach a behavior to the
image layer to show the before version of that image? so that will only be
available when the layer is visible? sorry, i should have spelled newbie with
all caps. i'm going to go re-read about layers. thanks for your help and
pointing me in the right direction. and as far as the text.... no i did not
know that was bad. i do now. thanks

You can use Show/Hide layer to show a previously hidden layer that contains
an image. You can apply links/behaviors to the image in that layer to show
other layers on the page with similarly applied links/behaviors.

When those layers are hidden, none of the links would be active.
