Hi,
I have been looking for a credit card processor for quiet some times now and
can't find any thing at decent price.
I would need payment to occur in euro, does any one have a company to
recommand, not interested in paypal as I wish to keep my customers on my site,
or at least get them back,
Regards,

Most "serious" ones are charging something in the neighborhood of US$50
as a set-up fee. Then you can commonly select whether they should charge
per purchase or have a fixed fee per month or so.

I have some experience with PaySystems.com, who screwed my client
royally, offered either useless or no support at all, and were a bunch
of arrogant pricks in general. (Oh, that might be different if you'll
have a million dollar weekly turnover which my client didn't). I do not
recommend them.

I have also heard very bad rumors about 2checkout.com but have no
personal experience from them.

But check www.worldpay.com. I have recently had some contacts with them
and they seem to be more customer oriented. Cost is about the same as
the others, though, and that's what I think you need to expect.

Tell us what you really think Dan :-)

I use 2checkout com and I am not too happy with them I admit. Too many
chargebacks for my liking - It is completely up to the vendor to try and
work out if a sale is actually fraudulant :\ If you have a question and
are desparate to get a comprehensive answer, don't expect one... all you get
is a one liner which doesn't explain a thing and certainly doesn't ease your
mind in the least.

eg: Just had a chargeback, I had proof that the goods were downloaded,
faxed it from Aust. to checkoutcom and then get told that there was a cut
off date and my paperwork was too late !! Wish they would have told me. If
I asked if there was a recourse, they tell me to contact the client - yeah
right - someone that used a fraudulant card, I'm sure is going to talk to me
!

Here is a page that maybe of help - is orientated towards a shopping cart on
that site, but is a list of payment gateways and their urls - go through
them and see what appeals :)

Heh...it's true. A lawyer from one of the worlds biggest law firms
(friend of my client) is working on it. But since my client isn't a
multi million $$ entity, the chances are slim = he can't pay the law
firm's fees and they aren't interested in getting a cut from a
successful lawsuit since it won't be more than perhaps $15-20K.

I have the whole shebang with all the bizarre mails and messages from
Paysystems.com archived. Due their arrogance (i.e. not responding to
mails, phone calls or support tickets. And when they finally did, they
did not have a clue about anything - not even rudimentary questions
about their own shopping cart).

They screwed him, royally. Rest assured. Sad story.....

The three systems that I'm currently considering are:
VeriSign
WorldPay
Authorize.net

I'm leaning toward VeriSign. However, note that WorldNet -- for $20/month --
accepts your choice of 3 currencies (e.g., US Dollar, Euro, and Pounds
Sterling). They charge I think 2.85% per transaction (US) or more than 4%
(int'l) . . . etc.; and the setup fee is steep.

VeriSign's monthly fee is more, but far as I see they don't charge any amount
per transaction (for 1000 transactions/month; then it's $0.10 per). I'm
waiting to find out about alternate currencies with VeriSign.

For Authorize.net, you don't deal directly with them, but with a reseller.
One such (the Credit Card Store) offered terms involving about $30/month, plus
percentages.

I'm leaning toward VeriSign -- largely because of the good reputation /
customer recognition / comfort; but also their deal seems good and
straightforward . . .

but you might want to check out WorldPay.

cheers,
d.i.

Good reputation???????? Customer comfort??????????? VeriSign???????????
Wooohooo!
Make a quick poll here or in any other forum where people are used to
buying and handling domains and ask what they think about VeriSign!
OTH, maybe their payment gateway is a different story....

Authorize.net will deal directly with qualified customers. I know because I
just finished an online registration system for a client using
Authorize.net.

Wel okay, here's a poll! Anyone with issues about VeriSign, I'm all ears.

When I said "customer" "comfort," I meant the online buying customers (not
vendors as customers of VeriSign -- which I don't know a thing about, as of
now). My point being, there's general recognition of VeriSign, far as I know,
for the average Joe Public.

What, praytell, do site administrators (or whoever) object to in VeriSign? I
don't (as yet) actually get your drift.

cheers, d.i.

Ok fair enuff. I was thinking about the account holder - not the account
holder's customers. Sorry.
Verisign used to be to only place where you could get domain names. And
they used their monopoly in a very ugly way. Then when "anybody" could
register domains, they lied, cheated and did unbelievable things to make
people stay with them. They actually hi-jacked domains and kept them
hostage....

So, most people that have been in this business for 4-5 years have been
forced to deal with them.

De nada.
Good luck, whichever you choose.

Thanks all for your answers, I have had a look at verisign and yes, it is true
than price wise they seem better than many other, plus their site is quiet
explainatory of what they do. I have also been talking to worldpay and they
seem to be more expansive but also seem serious, I think prices with them
depends on where you are.
i will check the other one shortly and will give some feed back in a couple of
days,
Thankinf you,
