I just purchased Macromedia DevNet Professional and was trying to look at
Dreamweaver and it's use of Page Designs so I loaded up a sample Page Designs
(CSS). When I load it up and then view it I noticed that all of the text was in
a different language than English. Then I looked at the spell checker but it,
too, was in a different language. Did I somehow purchase the wrong product? I
wanted it in English, US English. Is this just a problem because it is a
sample?

I would ask the Dreamweaver support, but it looks like they'd like to charge
me an incident. I don't think that's really fair since I don't think this
should be my problem.. but that's my opinion.

Any help out there?

Thanks,
Bob

what language are the menus in Dreamweaver itself in?

just to clear it out as a possible- is the sample page full of lorem-ipsum
fake latin?

what version number? guessing windows, find dreamweaver.exe and right-click
for Properties. There's a version number in there-
7.0.xxxx

i don't know the version numbers for the localized versions- but they are
different than the english lang. version.

Or- it sounds like you haven't run the installer yet???
Launch the installer- Is the installer in english? If it isn't- stop and
don't install or activate- clear the problem up with sales support.

the spell checker can be changed, in General Preferences.
The menu language can Not be changed-
If you really have the wrong language- contact sales support to see about
getting your subscription changed. I wouldn't let this wait- the quicker
you act to notify them of your mistake, the more likely it will be
pleasantly resolved probably...

Yes - that's what it is.... You are just looking at 'greeking' or filler
text.

This is the encoding you would use, but if you have a new install, this is
the one that is used by default -

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">

Thanks,
Yes, it is full of the lorem-ipsum fake latin.
Version is 7.0.1.
The menus themselves are all in English.

The only other thing I notice is that if I go to page properties and looke at
title/encoding, I see that Western European is the default encoding. I don't
see anything in the dropdown list that looks familiar - i.e., nothing about US.
English. What should it be for US English? Could everything be ok and I'm just
unfamiliar with this?

Thanks,

I just did a little more search in the help file and it appears that my
settings for the title/encoding are correct for the English language. So I
think I understand that part. Apparantly the only problem is that the sample
page designs have this fake latin text. Maybe that is just because it is a
sample and I am just a little mystified that a sample would come up in an
unfamiliar language.

If it's just the sample, I guess everything else is ok.
