Author deleting folder from server
J Long

I'm working with a new site with multiple users. This is the first site where
we've used check in/check out. One of the users did some significant
reorganization of her section which included deleting multiple folders. The
folders won't delete from the remote site because there is still a _notes
folder (and maybe .lck files).

So two questions...
1) Is there any way to see/delete these files/folders using DW site
management? Or do I need to use another FTP client to delete those folders?
2) What did she likely do to cause this problem?

TIA
Jim

I've run into this problem as well, and the only real way to deal with it is
to delete them either directly from the server (by logging onto the actual
machine if you have access) or by deleting them through another ftp client
(even Internet Explorer's built in FTP is sufficient).

The only time I've had this happen is if I checked out a bunch of files and
then moved them. Once they're moved locally they lose their connection to
the .lck files on the server. Dreamweaver helpfully provides an alert that
says you won't be able to check in the files when you move them, which is
why you can't get rid of the .lck files now.

Whenever I have to rename/move files when I'm working on a site with another
developer, I ensure that all of the files are checked in, I make sure that
*everyone* knows I'm about to start shuffling things around, and then I make
the moves locally, test and then synchronize my changes.

Hope that clears it up for you,
