Help with installing Dreamweaver on Win 98SE
|
|
| drewyates 2004-04-24, 5:29 pm |
| Hello. My name is Drew. I bought Macromedia Studio MX 2004 off the internet and
al trying to install it on my Windows 98 Second Edition PC. I only want to
install Dreamweaver right now so I clicked Dreamweaver MX 2004. It started
installing and then it said "Your operating system is not supported". I went
and checked out the system requirements for Dreamweaver Mx 2004 at the website
and it said Windows 98 and 98 SE are supported so I am confused of why it is
not working. If anyone can help me, please reply here or better yet, please
e-mail me at drewyates_2000@yahoo.com so I don't have to check this thread all
day. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
Drew

| 98 is NOT supported - neither is NT. You should be able to pick up Win2000
off ebay fairly cheaply - that's what I had to do...

| Well, I don't know if it is 4.10.2222 A. I'll have to check and see. I'm not
going to upgrade to Win 2000. I just upgraded that computer to 98SE. I think it
is 4.10.2222.A though for some reason. If it was then why was it not letting me
install it? I tried contacting Macromedia support but they always say something
is wrong with my serial number. I guess it's because the guy I bought it from
had it on his system.

Well, I guess you have an illegal copy, then. How about buying an
authorized one from Macromedia?

| No, not kidding. I just contacted the guy I bought it from. He's sold about 900
copies of the thing he says. Anyway, I've bought a lot from him and he says its
a compatibality problem and to not ask you guys anything about it. He's helping
me so I guess this discussion is closed. I have Windows 98 Second Edition
(4.10.2222B) instead of A. Anyway, thanks for your help!

And thanks for yours!
It's not often an admitted software pirate with a registered email address
posts on our forums so blatantly- I've passed this thread to our
antipiracy/legal department for further followups.

| drewyates 2004-04-30, 5:32 pm |
| (yawn) see if I care. I didn't do anything wrong. I just bought the software
from him, not knowing it was an ilegal copy until I got it. The e-mail address
I registered with doesn't even work anyway, you'll just get a bounce back. So
your little "plan" will not work. And there is no way you will ever get me to
tell you who the guy is that sold me the software so thats too bad for you.
| |
|
| well, there's lies there. but that's to be expected of someone with no shame
at stealing software.
You said earlier that you'd bought lots of 'stuff' from this guy- so your
claim you did nothing wrong, and you didn't know it was an (sic) ilegal copy
doesn't ring of truth.
wonder how many trojans have been installed with all the wonderful "low
priced" software?

| If you cared, you probably wouldn't have posted.
Regardless, your postings have shown incredibly poor taste, and blatant
disregard for not only posting guidelines here but also the law. Take it
elsewhere ASAP...

| I understand. I know that guy selling software like that is truely wrong and
against the law. For that I am sorry. I assure you I will not make copies of it
and sell it to anybody. Thats just not what I do. As for IP tracking, sorry you
can't do that . I have advanced IP blocking software and I have contacted my
ISP and they said that any IP tracking activity on my account will be
mmediately forwarded to the authorities. I am sorry for posting here and asking
for help on software that was copied. That's my wrong doing and I can't change
that. Sorry.

| It's OK. I just Kazaa-ed over to his system and erased the dreamweaver
executable.

| Understood, Drew-
However, by posting on our forums you're also revealing your posting IP
address voluntarily to our servers. This is a fact of life when you initiate a
browser connection with ANY server, just look at any server log file for
specfics. We're of course not 'sniffing' any of your network activity outside
of the postings you've voluntarily made here (and have no desire to do so,
either)- all well within legal boundaries. If we were trying to sniff your
remote ISP connection and watch your network connection remotely, I'd agree
that you'd have a solid case. We don't engage in that type of activity,
however- we respect the legal rights of our community even when they clearly
haven't respected ours. ;)
I certainly do appreciate your comments regarding not spreading this further-
however note that you've rather blatantly thumbed your nose at us in this
thread, also admitting to dealing in pirated software in our *public* forum.
Not a wise move, any way you slice it.

| I understand that I am transmitting an IP address, I will just shut down my ISP
and move to another one. I find it funny that you lied and said you "Kazaa-ed"
over to my system and deleted the dreamweaver program or whatever you lied
about. That too is impossible, I have a daily updated firewall and you would
not even be able to touch that. Yes, I have bought other programs from this
person. They were actually full version fully registered paid retail products.
I swith ISP's for other applications, but go back to this one to talk to you on
a slow outdated Macromedia forum.

| sfegette 2004-04-30, 5:33 pm |
| Well, the Kazaa posting wasn't from me- but I'd highly advise not responding to
this thread any further, regardless of your IP (which will get logged any time
you post here, no matter how often you switch ISPs). You've made your point,
and we've definitely made ours.

| Forgot to include this in my other post. I have not recieved trojan horses with the called 'low-priced software' my antivirus program is updated daily and that is not likely to happen at all. ;)
