| I am new to Dreamweaver having used Frontpage for the last few years and am
still a beginner
I only do a personal family site but it is getting to be a pain in the but to
maintain and somebody suggested that I switch over to dreamweaver.
Right now I manually update everything and create each page...
I want to be able to use PHP but I don't understand how I store my information
so that when someone clicks the link it creates the page...

| basically, your move to dreamweaver is right as dreamweaver does has quite a
lota support for PHP, JSP, ASP and other server side scriptings.. to do so, you
are dynamically creating data.. two ways which you could do so is to make use
of PHP to connect to a database where you could post and retrieve files or make
use of a CVS text file, thus setting chmod 777 to the folder. this system is
called a CMS, content management system.. you dont exactly need to know how to
write one as there are lots of these scripts available. an instance example
would be [L=PHPnuke]http://www.phpnuke.org[/L]. Hope that helped a little.. =D

If you don't want to learn all the database stuff, have you ever seen
myfamily.com? It's a content management sytstem for family websites
that basically does all the work for you--I think it costs about $30 to
sign up for a year. You might want to check it out if you're not
interested in learning the database stuff for its own sake?

| another thing that you could do is make use of the iframe and some css tricks.
thus, you would just need to modify that particular iframe for instance.
however, i am not very sure it this has quirk issues though.. =)
