Author OT: reliable, affordable Canadian web hosting

My hosting contract is up for renewal at the end of this month and I'm
shopping around for alternatives. Currently I pay $15 a month for 15mb of
storage and a 1k bandwidth cap, no database support.

Because of fluctuating exchange rates, I prefer to deal with a hosting
service that will, at the very least, bill me in Canadian currency. And
obviously I'm looking for as near-100%-uptime as I can get.

I'd be grateful for any recommendations.

they don't offer Canadian billing- but i'm happy with
http://affordablehost.com
Look in the resellers link, if you want to put other domains on the same
account, and ask for Web Host Manager to be setup.

only aggravation so far, they don't do recurring card charges, so i either
pay for a block of months ahead, or pay online each month.

offhand, you should be able to get tons more "stuff" for the same or not
much more than you are presently paying.

suggestion?

before going with a host- suggest doing a search on
http://groups.google.com using their business name or domain name, to see if
people have been yelling...

I use one up in Canada (I think?): www.100megswebhosting.com.
*nix, CPanel, 100Mb, "all" script languages supported, etc. Plus a
really, really good support 7/24.

Why? The exchange rate change over the past year has favored the
Canadian dollar. (http://www.oanda.com/convert/fxhistory - 04/03/2003
1.47060; 04/09/2004 1.32730) So for a US$20 hosting plan that you
were paying CA$30 for a year ago, you're paying CA$26 now.

Thanks very much for the suggestions, guys. I have indeed been getting a
bad deal with my current host!
-K.

I pay $10/US for 500mb space and TONS of other goodies. Exchange hasn't
been that bad to want a Canadian host. http://dreamhost.com/ -- very
satisfied. Support via email, uptime usually 99.7%, great folks to deal
with.
