Author Any experience with Toggle-o-matic menus?

Does anyone have any experience with Toggle-O-Matic menus? it's an MXP from
the book, "Dreamweaver MX 2004 Magic."

I got the tutorial to work fine from the book, however I would like to do a
horizontal menu instead of a side vertical one. There doesn't seem to be any
reference or documentation to do that.

You can discuss this with the author who visits here frequently - Angela
Buraglia....

I'll let her know.

I found her email and she sent me a nice response. Right now, the extension is good for doing vertical menus. she mentioned to look at PVii.

Thanks!

Glad I could help you. :-)

I figure I should share some of the response (slightly modified to make
sense to everyone) since others may wonder the same thing and find this
thread later on...

The thing about horizontal menus is they don't really lend themselves to
"toggling". To me, toggling means you do an action once and you see it (like
a click), then you do the same action again and you don't see it. When you
have a vertical menu, the open menu shoves down all the other menus so
nothing can ever overlap. If you were to toggle a horizontal menu, the menus
would most likely end up overlapping.

Let's take this as a horizontal menu example: Home | Products | Services |
Contact Us. If it were a toggle-o-matic type menu, and I clicked on Products
the menu would open below Products and is wide enough to be under Services
too. Then I click on Services , while Products is still open. The two menus
would overlap each other and would look really bad.

What you need is a Show/Hide layers type of menu where you specify to either
show or hide the menu during a specific action. For example: Show skills on
mouseover and hide all other menus, Hide skills on mouseout. Project Seven
has some tutorials on how to do this, as well as extensions to help make the
process easier. It does take some work though. Here's one example of theirs
and feel free to explore their site for more options.

Hope that helps!

Angela:

Just did a google search to find out what this toggle-o-matic stuff was.
Low and behold, found results by someone named Angela....who just
happens to have the dwfaq.com site.... <LAUGHING> So, now I have yet
another item on my "wish list" for when I finally do get MX2005 <not
sure if it is a typo :-)

Lying asleep somewhere on my old Mac I think. Forgot all about it when I
left here (due to high volume of mail and not keeping up). Maybe for
nostalgia I'll open and see what shape it's in :) OS X Mac makes fonts a
very dirty word! I'm having nightmares over them.
