Can any one please tell me how to set vertical alignment for the table tag
in dreamweaver mx I need at table of one row and one column to appear dead
centre in all browsers

Can not.
Use a "layer", apply the extension called "Layout Designer 2" from
www.projectseven.com to place it dead center.
Then fill it with whatever.
