Author Macromedia Lice?

I've been having some performance issues with my PC, not DW-related. I was
looking at the task list to kill off some cpu gobblers and noticed a process
called Macromedia Lice.

Of course in this day of bad buggies and viruses, anything named Lice sets off
alarms. One blog turned up by Google said it's probably an abbreviation for
Macromedia Licensing, but a search on macromedia.com turned up nothing. What's
the official word? Thanks!
A.

Lice = bugs

So, that must be the bugs that get installed when you install any macromedia
software.

(The irony in that process name was just too great to resist. ;o)

It's related to the License Activation, I believe.

If you're seeking general info about the way that serial numbers are now
tied to particular machines, then here's the overview resource:
http://www.macromedia.com/software/activation/

(I don't think it goes into filenames or mechanics, if that's what
you're seeking, but the FAQ and other materials do describe the general
processes involved.)
