MX 2004 - I can't paste from Notepad into the code view!

| I just upgraded from Dreamweaver MX to MX 2004 and now I cannot paste any text from notepad into the dreamweaver code view. I can paste into the design view, but not the code. My paste menu item is not grayed out in any of the menus, though both the paste
HTML and paste Text menu items are, and when I paste (ctrl-V or thru menus) it tells me that I have modified the document (the little * appears next to the filename on the title bar) but nothing is pasted in. I have no clue what is going on! I've tried t
o reboot but that doesn't help. PLEASE HELP ME!! Thanks!!

Please show me the page into which you are trying to paste, and tell me
where you are trying to do the paste.

| Well, I can send you over 20 pages of different types (asp, php, htm) from different websites because none of the documents I open allow me to paste into them from notepad. It doesn't matter where I paste into the document either. Even when opening up a p
lain blank Dreamweaver HTML file (with the basic html code), it will not allow me to paste into it from notepad. I can paste into it from other programs, just not notepad.
Another problem I am experiencing is, Dreamweaver will never "come to the top" of all of the windows I have opened. When I click on it, it becomes focused on (it has the focused color while all of the rest of my windows become grayed out) but will not pu
t itself on top of the pile of windows. I have to minimize all other open windows to be able to work on Dreamweaver. This is extremely frustrating!
Here are some of my computer specs which I forgot to mention last time:
Athlon 800 mghz
256 Ram
Win 98se (newly formatted)
Any help you can give will be appreciated!

| Devin:
I am on W2KPro and WXPPro, and I have no problem copying and pasting from
Notepad to a DMX2004 code view window. Is it possible that you have some
other utilities running that might be blocking this? Perhaps TweakUI?

| I formatted my computer this afternoon and completely reloaded all my software and am still having this same problem. As far as having another program running that could be preventing me from pasting and such, I don't have anything like tweatUI running. I
even Crtl-Alt-Del'ed and closed any program the might be running in the background other than the absolutely necessary ones (Explorer, Rundll32 and Systray) and still have the problem occur. It's got me baffled! Any ideas?!

| I can't shed any light on your problem, but just to confirm that I am experiencing the identical problem when trying to test drive the 30 day trial of MX 2004. I cannot paste anything into the source view at all. I am running MX 2004 under Windows 98 SE a
nd I do not have anything resembling TweakUI or similar that could be causing this effect. I realise I am a few days late in adding to this thread, so if anyone has solved the problem, I would be grateful to find the answer.

It would be pretty easy to stop, if we out here online knew how it was
started. For example, one way to get "can't paste" is if you're
currently in a document which is an instance of a template. The rest of
us can't tell if that's the way being used there, though. Other ways to
get "can't paste" could be through relying on keyboard shortcuts which
are being claimed by other processes... another way might be through
some type of clipboard utility... there could be other ways to not get
the usual copy/paste as well.

| Hopefully some detail about the circumstances associated with this problem might clarify the situation a bit further.
I have now installed the 30 day trial of DW MX2004 on a Windows XP Pro machine, as well as my original Windows 98SE machine. The problem Does Not occur in XP Pro!
In Windows 98SE however, there appears to be no permutation of copy and paste from Notepad that works.
e.g. If I create a new basic document in MX2004 (not a new template) and try to paste anything from Notepad, it will not paste, either via menu commands or shortcuts. No other applications are running at this time. The effect only occurs when trying to c
opy and paste from Notepad - This does not happen with any other application I have tried. i.e. if I copy from any other Windows application there is no problem
As a final illustration of the fact that there is a definite issue here, I have carried out the following :-
Open dreamweaverOpen NotepadOpen another Windows application (e.g. Wordpad)Control-C some text from notepadControl-V the text into Wordpad (Do not bother saving the document)control-C the same text from Wordpad (which will already be highlighted)Control-
V into Dreamweaver (successfully)
So the intermediate step of going control-V then control-C in Wordpad is sufficient to get the job done, but if you miss out the intermediate operation and go directly from Notepad to Dreamweaver - Nothing !!

| I'm having the same problem. I'll probably end up reinstalling DW MX.
I get this error message when I try to paste:
"While executing DWMenu_Edit_Paste command in menus.xml, the following
Javascript error(s) occured:
TypeError: MM.event has no properties"
I also get an error everytime I save. It does save the file, but I get
this:
"While executing onLoad in_afterSave.htm, the following Javascript
error(s) occured:
In fine "" _afterSave"":
ReferenceError: afterSave is not defined"
Thanks,
Bonnie

I am experiencing the same issue on a mac. Same errors and all, except
that I can not paste info anywhere, be it in code or design view, or
even pasting link addies into the link box of the properties window.
this is horrible. I have updated Dreamweaver MX2004 to v7.0.1, no luck.
reinstalled it back to 7.0, no luck. cried a little about it, still no
signs from god. any help would be very much appreciated as typing in
all information manually is NOT a reasonable option. I suppose I could
just use GoLive for a while...
