Author <hea>> Inserted Instead Of <head> In Template

I am creating a new document from a template, and when DWMX does that, it is changing the <HEAD> in the first few lines to <HEA>>, which then causes the > to show up at the top of the new page and for the rest of the page to be scooted down. The original document is fine, it's not until I'm creating a new doc from that template that it happens.

What's that about, and can I fix it??

And yes, I'm a rookie, so speak slowly.

First few lines from the original doc:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
<HTML><HEAD>
<!-- TemplateBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->
<TITLE>Harvest Lane Community Church</TITLE>

First few lines from the new doc:

<!-- InstanceBegin template="/Templates/Harvestlane.dwt" codeOutsideHTMLIsLocked="false" --><!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
<HTML><HEA>>
<!-- InstanceBeginEditable name="doctitle" -->
<TITLE>Harvest Lane Community Church</TITLE>

Angie:

I do not see the parent to this post. Are you posting from this site -
Posted via http://www.forum4designers.com?

You should come to the NNTP forums (see the link in my sig for the best way
to get answers) or by way of the macromedia webforums
(http://webforums.macromedia.com) to be sure of being able to both send and
receive all the posts.

What you are describing is just impossible. Dreamweaver just doesn't do
that. Can you please verify that it happens every time from every template?
Also, which version of DW are you using?
