2004 and my Macs - I like it

| With the 7.0.1 upgrade available I moved to DW 2004 and it seems to be a
good move.
For starters, it runs on both my G4/450 desktop with 1.1 gigs of RAM and
my Wallstreet/233 Powerbook with 288 megs of RAM.
It also no longer crashes when I close the last open page.
The interface is okay (now why did they hide 'synchronize' there :-),
especially now that I got the Code Inspector to quit staying on top (did
this by grouping it with the Files panel).
I don't like the inability to make Insert panel vertical. It's not bad
on the desktop (I moved it to the second monitor), but on the laptop it
gets in the way.
I also miss (a lot) the ability to have the little icons on the status
bar.
Overall, though, it's a good upgrade that appears to run faster than DW
MX did.

| Yep, the 7.01 update was what I was waiting for before upgrading to 2004
myself. I, too, have a G4/450, and the updater was satisfactory enough for
me to plunk down the cash for it. Fedex guy should be delivering it
tomorrow :-)
Best regards,
Chris

Do you mean you can't jump to the site, CSS, Behaviours and the like
from the status? How is it done then? Not another palette! They get in
the way of the working window! On a 17" monitor, don't have enough space!

Guess it depends on retail sales to know if a store is carrying DW with
the updater? Is there a way of telling? Or, would version just say
"MX2004"?

That's right.
It's not too bad with two monitors, but on my laptop, it's a real pain.
I played with it and have the site files panel showing below and to the
right of my pages so I can click on it to bring it forward.
I put some of the panels on the right and keep them minimized so I can
just click on the appropriate arrow to open it.
The worst was the code panel, which persisted on staying on top and
doesn't work the same way as clicking on the "<>" in the status bar did.
The best I could do was to group this with the Files panel - then it
goes behind my page when I click on the page.
It's not nearly as good a setup as having he symbols in the status bar,
but it's the best I could come up with.
And I still can't make the insert palette vertical, so I lose more turf
than I like vertically.
Overall, it seems they made some of the interface changes for no good
reason and reduced the user-friendliness/efficiency somewhat, but
overall it seems to be a working upgrade, which is certainly a positive.

I don't know - maybe somebody else?
