CSS question on positioning

| apologies if this is slightly off topic but I couldn't find a CSS newsgroup.
I have some pics that I have arranged into a circle using CSS absolute
positioning. The first pic is at a particular position, and then the next is
slightly to the left and up a bit, next slightly more left and up a bit etc
etc. my question is how can I now centre that group of pics in the page?
I've made the "circle" by positioning the images relative to the left hand
side of the browser window, at approx 800 pixels wide everything looks great
and centred, but anything wider than this and the images are over to the
left.
many thanks for the tips.

hmm..I managed to get it done by putting it all inside a table that is
centre aligned...
this has now created a further problem...
There are 9 images arranged in a semi-circle round a logo. I have simplified
the logo by making it the bg image to the table, and using relative
postioning I have arranged the 9 images around it. However, each image
appears to have created a <br> in that I now have a table on my page that
stretches some 600-700 pixels in height, this means that at 800x600 there is
a scroll bar, even though there is nothing lower than the 9 images to
display.
I've quicky FTP'd the page in question
www.alistairb.co.uk/ali.html
without the images and stuff (but the effect is the same) and I've put a
border around the table so you can see what I'm talking about.
Can anyone suggest anything?....
or even an answer to the iriginal question about centering content without a
table?
many thanks
