Default File Extension

| Hello,
I'm using Dreamweaver MX 2004 Professional at work. How do I change the
default file extension from htm to html? There's a field in the preferences
box, but I can't change it. It says I can modify some XML file, but I don't see
anything in there about the default file extension.
Why would Macromedia make it so difficult to change the default file extension?

| Look in the first five lines of that XML file -
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<documenttypes
xmlns:MMString="http://www.macromedia.com/schemes/data/string/">
<documenttype id="HTML" internaltype="HTML"
winfileextension="html,htm,shtml,shtm,stm,tpl,lasso,xhtml,inc"
macfileextension="html,htm,shtml,shtm,tpl,lasso,xhtml,inc"
file="Default.html"
Note that I have already changed it so that html is the first extension
listed for both win and mac.

| so the default file extension is always the first one on the list. Thanks.
I still don't know why Macromedia didn't just allow you to change it in the
prefrences panel.
Thanks again,
