Author Murray, can you spare a dime?

Murray,

At your suggestion, I got rid of the DW pop-up menus and replaced with
Javascript menus ala Project Seven (actually I used the techniques cited in my
"Inside Dreamweaver" book, but I think they it's essentially the same as P7's).

Could you look again at the URI and tell me what you think? Seems to work in
IE 6 (Windows), Nav 7 (Win), IE 5 (Mac), and Safari! Don't know how the
code-weight compares to the old approach, but it seems to work. Now if I could
just get the menus to hide when I mouse-out of the menu, I'd be in business. I
tried putting a layer with a transparent GIF (with a behavior attached to hide
all other layers) behind the menu (as per the book's suggestion) but this
didn't seem to work.

If you (or anyone else) sees anything else that should be changed, don't
hesitate to say so. The URI is:

http://www.rightmovesforyouth.org/5K04/frameset.htm

TIA,
MiddleAges

Get yourself a copy of PVII's AutoLayer and AutoHide extensions. Apply the
AutoHide to the <body>, and select each of the menu layers. Then when you
show a layer, instead of showing one and hiding all the others, just use the
AutoLayer extension to show the one you want. This will hide all of the
others at the same time.

Much better. Now we have to get rid of those frames.

Thanks Murray,
Got the extensions and applied the P7 Auto-Hide behavior to all layers except
the banner and main menu. Doing that alone seems to make the banner work
(partially) correctly in Nav7, Safari, and IE(Mac) as when I move the mouse
BELOW the menus, the disappear correctly. But when I move the mouse ABOVE the
menus, they stay.....weird. Probably something to do with not applying the
Auto Show behavior, but I'll work on that tomorrow. Gotta get some more
content up there now.

Thanks so much for your help!!!! If you're ever in Charlotte, I'm buyin'!

ps - BTW, one of the reasons I like the frames though are so that my flash
banner doesn't reload (and restart) with each new page selected in the menu.

The frames are fine.

Just make the size of the right frame colum realative istead of 686 so
your navigation frame will have a fixed size.

I'm having the exact same problem as MA that my right menu covers my left
navbar when the window is resized too a smaller window instead of getting a
horizontal scrollbar.
I am not using frames but when you suggested setting to justified, is that
what you were trying to help prevent on the OP site?
I tried it on mine and it threw off the format of the page. Should something
else be adjusted on my page to prevent the format issue? Below is what I
have the right menu set to.

div.menu {
top:200px;
left:77%;
width:160px;
height:220px;
position: relative;
background-image: url(transparent);
border: none;
}

Thanks all
