Author Code Coloring Document Type

There is a CodeColoring.xml file under the configuration folder under
the Dreamweaver MX install. I'm trying to add a new extension that will be
recognized in Dreamweaver for Color Coding purposes. The extension is inhouse
and is actually Coldfusion code. I've identified the extension as a file type
in windows and it opens with Dreamweaver. In DW the code is non-colored. I
added the extension to the CodeColoring.xml. Under Edit/Preferences/Code
Coloring, in DW, I still have not figured out how to populate the Document Type
List with additions. Coldfusion Component is one of my Document Types in the
list but I did not find this particular identifying text in the
CodeColoring.xml, so where is it defined?

The Code Coloring schema uses document types, not file extensions, so it
sounds like you need to add your file extension to the existing
ColdFusion document type. Here's a TechNote on how to do that:

http://www.macromedia.com/support/d.../add_ext_mx.htm

Also, make sure you are editing files in your user configuration folder,
not the application configuration folder. Read this TechNote for more info:

http://www.macromedia.com/support/d...s/multiuser.htm

Finally, be sure to restart DW after any changes.

I don't know if this helps your situation but if your code coloring is not
showing up:

Here may be the issue. It's in the toolbar above the main document. the last
icon in the toolbar is "View Options". Click it, and it will drop down and show
a few options. One of them is Syntax Coloring.

The options that appear will differ depending on whether you're in design or
code view. Syntax Coloring will only show up in code view.
