It simply will NOT remember the location of the "Document" and "Standard"
toolbars. I naturally want them on a single "line" with the Document and the
Standard bars side by side. Works like a charm when I start up Dreamweaver
and position them the way I want them, but when I quit, then restart,
they're all hosed up again with the Document toolbar shoved to the right,
and the Standard bars on another line, shoved over to the left.

Where can I make them stick?

That is a bug in Dreamweaver. Try loading in about 6 or 7 toolbars and
you'll REALLY get frustrated.

Is this being worked on? This is absolutely frustrating as hell. I'm holding
off upgrading 5 programmers because of crap like this...

I'm not aware of any planned DW updates. Macromedia typically does not
update or fix software after it is released.

Yes it's being worked on. Macromedia is preparing an updater for DMX2004.

???

There's already been updates released for the MX 2004 versions of Flash
and Fireworks, and an update to DWMX 2004 is expected in the very near
future. Now to be fair- Macromedia typically doesn't discuss release
*dates* until they're made public by the product team, however. But
outside of Flash MX I'm not aware of *any* product release that didn't
get at least one updater in it's lifecycle...

We've been waiting SIX MONTHS for this fix. 'very near future' is just
not good enough.

Of course.
But would you rather wait a little longer for a great updater, or would you
rather they rushed a buggy fix out early?
And hoping for an early non buggy fix, or a non buggy original release is
obviously pointless...

Understood. However I don't have any more information than that right
now, and once I do you can bet I'll be glad to pass it along.

Murray,

How about regular, timely patches that fix particular problems - the way
many other software manufacturers do?

Nigel

PS How much do Macromedia pay you to be a mouthpiece of propaganda for them?

I'm just curious why you feel you must be offensive to try to make a point.

Ideally, of course. Practically, what are they?

Perhaps because you feel you must intimate that everyone who has a
problem is making it up?

>

Er, Microsoft for one! Anti-virus vendors for another. Adobe for yet
another.

No point in going on. Anyway I noticed that another updater for FWMX04
has slipped out the back door before DWMX04 gets patched. That's 2-0 to
Fireworks. Either there are some very slow developers working on the DW
patch or its taking so long because the product is shot to hell.

Please show me where I do this. Where did I do that in this thread? What
*is* your real problem?

And you still don't get my meaning here. What are your practical
alternatives to waiting for an updater release from Macromedia? I'll help -

1. You can stop using the software
2. You can continue to soldier on and get your work done

Did I miss any?

More difficult key issues to address in DWMX2004 than there were in
FWMX2004, IMHO. The overall severity of a given bug rarely has a direct
relation to the effort required to fix it.
Nothing more, nothing less.

dznr,
If you are so hacked off at the state of DW - why do you still use it?
Go use something else.
Vote with your feet.
DW is not the only web production product out there you know...

Sure, it annoys me too sometimes, but I deal with it.
Your public venting could be better directed (a forum where most of the
users actually agree with you might be a better place to get the attention
you crave).

2p.
