[more info crashing DW 2004] sharing of folder
|

| Two days ago I posted miserably about my DW MX 2004 crashing.
(Message-ID: <1mmcq4hxk0y0m.dlg@www.translatoria.com> )
I also reported that I thought there might be something odd going on with
an (empty) folder in the site cache I can not delete, because, Windows
tells me: 'cannot read source data' (am not sure of the terminology: my
Windows is not in English).
Murray's list asks among other things:
'Where are your 'local' files? Are they on a network shared drive?'
I answered: 'No' to that question. Truthfully of course, but I do think
that is the right direction, now that I am reading more and more about
undeletable folders: all my other folders in the site cache give the
option to share the folder (properties > sharing), but this one does not.
There is no properties-tab 'sharing' .( I learnt about unchecking the
option 'simple sharing' etc to produce a tab 'owner', but no such tab is
created. I did reboot).
My conclusion as a lay woman: the folder is missing the option to be
shared, which may have something to do with it not being deletable either,
but *I* never messed with sharing DW folders.
DW and all DWfiles are in folders that are not shared, on a drive that is
not shared, but can DW somehow or other have 'thought' that they were
shared or that I do not have administrative rights (which I do have) and
therefore robbed the folder of it's sharing options? In other words: is it
possible that DW messed with the shareability of my DW Folders?
I don't think this makes much sense, but I explained as best as I could.
(I know I contact MM rather than this forum, but I cannot find the right
words, and anyway, it is only speculation. If there is some technical
expert reading this, who thinks it is worth notifying MM, and can put my
rambling story into a proper report, will he/she please do so? Thanks!) .

I doubt that this is the problem, but it's useful information to ferret
away - thanks!
