I am having an issue. I have a folder that I am trying to delete but for some
reason I am getting an FTP error that will not let me delete any files in the
folder or the folder itself.

However, I can delete other folders and other files...what gives?

Talk to the host. Probably, it's a *nix server and the permissions have
been messed up.
Or, it's created by someone/something else and doesn't "belong" to you.
Your host will fix it in a blink.

What is the exact error message?

Is it cannot delete because folder is not empty?

If yes- then there is a hidden system file in the remote folder, such as
maybe an .htaccess file; and more likely than not- it is "owned" by "nobody"

That is a common thing on *nix servers when a script creates a file or
folder. The script may be running as "nobody" so the files it creates are
owned by "nobody" so you don't own them, you can't delete them.

If that's the case- and older message with info-
On changing ownership (if that's the problem)- I'm going to guess you don't
have shell or telnet access?

You could ask the host to do this, they could run a command and do it in 30
seconds.

If your site hosting has a "Control Panel" or CPanel; and it has a file
manager, you could probably do it from there.

if you can use php- download and install this small shareware script-
It will let you change ownership of the files and delete them using a
webpage.
http://www.CraigRichards.com/software/

if you can't use php, there's also cgi/Perl scripts that do the same. I
think a simple one is named nobody.cgi that's in this collection-
http://www.verysimple.com/products.php/webtoolz.html

Note- if you install a script- !!!delete it off the remote!!! when done to
be safe. if someone stumbles across it, they could do anything to any file
up to and including deleting the entire site and replacing it with whatever
files they wanted to.

***lastly- you could just rename the folder to something like deadfolder1
or aaaaignoreme1 and leave on the remote site. It isn't going to bother
anything.
