Layers and Safari, NS 4.79

| The page www.wallysanford.com validates at W3C, and renders fairly
accurately in IE6 and NS7, but on NS 4.79 (which I typically ignore)
and Safari on OS X (which I only rarely see around here), the layers
are ignored, and the page is a general mess. Does one still have to
use a procedure like that at
http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/jav..._part_two.html,
or are there easier ways to achieve browser independence with
Safari/NS 4.79, or should I go back to tables?
Thanks.

Safari is choking on the P7_Snap('clear','coda',1,1) function call you
have on load. Take that out and the navigation is positioned
absolutle on the bottom of the page. The timeline that brings over the
image is running OK.
IE 5 Mac positions the coda DIV in the center of the screen below the
green area and Firebird positions the DIV in the centered on the green
area just below it.
I've generally found that Safari does a good job rendering layers.
