DW MX not MX 2004 (although the answer may be the same for both versions)
I am transfering my files from one computer to another. I'd like to avoid
having to re-enter the site setup info for all my sites (ftp logins, passwords
etc).
I'm thinking this data is stored in a DW preference file somewhere. But I
don't know where to look.
Who can tell me? Thanks in advance.

| from older posts-
do a Find system-wide for the filenames given below
Those are where the site definition information are stored for the mac
version.
Dreamweaver MX 2004 Prefs
or
Dreamweaver MX Prefs
depending on the version you are using.
in osX, the one that is in hd:Users:UserYouAreLoggedInAs:Library:Preferences
is the active one.
Moving that Prefs file to a different machine can cause problems, because of
different hd names and paths. but it can be done, will have to go in and
edit each site def. for the correct Local Site folder, and correct Site
Map-->homepage location. And also the paths to every helper application in
Prefs-->FileTypes and Editors
better-
Use the big EXPORT button in the edit sites dialog box to make an .ste file
for each site, with all info included (click Yes to include ftp info)
Dw menu-->Site-->Edit or Manage Sites
save the .ste files. Move them to other machine.
Use the IMPORT button in Edit Sites dialog box to import the .ste files one
at a time.
You will still need to correct paths in each site def-
Local info: location of Local Site Folder
Site Map: location of this site's "homepage"
The above info is just for copying/moving the site definitions.
you will also need to copy/move the actual site assets, in each Local Site
Folder.
