| Hey all,
As you can see from my last few posts I just started learning .php Yesterday
I came across a php-nuke site. I spent a little time looking around to learn
more about it and so far all I have is that it's an automated system for
whatever you want.
Can anyone please expand/explain more? Thanks
Todd

php nuke (http://phpnuke.org/) is a Open Source content management
system, i.e. it's a "finished" PHP driven site where members can
participate and contribute in chatting, message boards, ads, etc.
Roughly. Read more at their site, which is, I admit, sparse on info if
you don't know anything at all. Like many, many other software sites,
they take for granted that the visitor already knows quite a lot about
the product.

Though it really is more of an Open Source community-web-site system.
It's pitched as a CMS, but it's basically a CMS with one core focus...a site
for a community, as it emphasises the community components moreso than pure
content management.

Agreed. Many of similar software are also promoting themselvs as CMS. Odd...

Odd...
I think the term CMS has been over-genericized by the CMS industry. Which is
a shame. The terminology used by the industry has become so meaningless that
it's really hard to do any true product comparisons without actually
installing and using the products for a period of time.
