problem with library behaviours

| I'm using DW MX. I have created a library item for my website menubar (with
pop-up menu behaviours) i followed the instructions in a DW manual (for version
3) on how to change behaviours in a library item. The technique describes
detaching the (old) library item in a html -> ammend it -> delete the (old)
library item -> then save the element(s) of the new library item with the same
name as the old library item -> finally, update the pages. THIS DID NOT
WORK!!??. strangely the other pages kept the behaviours of the old library item
(even though i deleted it!!!) . I'm a newbie to DW am i going about this the
right way...essentially all i want to do is set up my (multiple) pages so that
in future if i want to change (or add) a page i dont have to ammend the
behaviours of each page. I tried using FRAMES but the problem occured due to
the design of my page (the menu bar placed at top or page) the drop down menu
were obscured behind the lower frame. What other options do i have??

You know about these pop-ups, right?

Use a different method for your menus.
But first, show me your Library item's code, please.

| The reason your pages still have the info from your old library files is simply
that you don't NEED to have the library file with the HTML files for them to
display the library object's information or to operate properly. In essence,
library files are more or less referenced in each file by comment tags that
tell the library object 'if you're looking in this file and find these comment
tags which denotes the beginning and end of a library object inside the code,
update the code between them with what we have in the library object'. It's
basically a glorified find and replace function. So, it's not that files are
looking in the library files to see what to display each time the page is
requested, it's that the library object looks for those tags and knows where to
update code when you make an update to the library object, save it and choose
to update pages using that library object. Basically, just open your library
object, delete a character or change something, change it back (so that it's
tricked into thinking something changed), save and update your pages and it'll
be fine.
