Hello, can anyone give me some advice about importing one multi-page
document into another. I thought if I went to the end of a document
created a new page and imported to it the imported document would come
in from that page. It doesn't it is imported over the existing pages.
The best way I've found so far is to import onto the first page. This
pushes all pages but the first to the back. However, the first page of
the imported file gets dumped onto the active layer of the first page of
the target document. So for example if I import an 80 page document into
an 80 page document I end up with 159 pages. It seems to be there is
some kind of bug with merging files.

No problem here with No1 -
i make empty page in the end, make it active, import and it imports starting this page n+1 to 2n
so I end up with exactly double qty of pages

No2:
I checked VBA and I saw that Import command belongs to Layer object,
there is no import command at Document object level, so they
just didn't think about it. So it was back in all versions it seems

So concerning problem No2
if you really want to merge files, saving layers disposition,
then it must be programmed with VBA macro, which first runs original document
tagging every object with its layer name, then running a macro on target
document restoring layers (and creating if needed) from tags

Thanks Os,

Tagging every object sounds monstrous. Looks like no real thought has
been given to merging files and taking into account layers. CorelDraw
has a checkbox for maintaining layers but it doesn't work. I get
everything grouped and dumped on the active layer. I guess version X3 is
the same?

of course, :-(
you're obviously the first person who is merging files with multiple layers.
Anyway CorelDraw's support for layers is quite poor. I even had to write it in VBA to have keyboard shortcuts for simplest managing
of layers. Someday someone will write merging in VBA ;-)
by the way I've coded subfolders search as you pointed out, now it's very VERY cool, soon there'll be new ver

In addition, I would also like to be able to copy and paste entire pages between documents,
including all the page settings and layers.
