Author Import EPS - how?
MsCynic

On my home installation of Corel 12 I can preview and import EPS files, yet
on my new install at work, EPS files are not viewable or importable. I've
tried to modify the installation to add EPS but it doesn't appear on the
Secondary or Tertiary file types.

Is there a setting somewhere else that I can enable EPS files?

Thanks in advance
Jo

Have you checked which filters are active in Options > Global > Filters?
They should be there and active by default, but something may have gone wrong.

Also remember, there are two filters for EPS import; EPS - Encapsulated Postscript
and PS, PRN, EPS - PostScript Interpreted. You need the last one if you want to
be able to edit the imported files.

Thanks for replying Ronny. I have PS, EPS and PRN all in the list of
filters. Yet when I import an EPS file I just end up with a grey box filled
with the file name.

newer version of the adobe files. Do you know the author of the files? If so
needs to resaveas a lower version more than likely.
or an editable pdf will open in CDR12 for sure.

In that case, Interpreted Postscript is the import filter you need.

Jo,

That is exactly what you should get if the file has no header. If you print
it to a PostScript printer, it will work perfectly.

If you want to see something on screen use PS Interpreted. Just know that if
you don't have the specified fonts, the artwork will change.

Sounds like they are non-interpreted EPSs without headers (low
resolution preview pictures). If you want just to print them - go ahead,
with postscript printer it should work OK. If you want to edit them -
contact with author.

Thanks for your replies everyone.

Foster said: "If you want to see something on screen use PS Interpreted.

and MM said "In that case, Interpreted Postscript is the import filter you
need."

Yet although I have made sure I have the Interpreted filter in the list of
active filters, I still can't view the eps file. Am I missing another step?

Jo

You have to select that specific filter on Import.
Just leaving it as All File Formats in the dialog wont work.
In that case you'll get a placed EPS instead (at least if
EPS is above PS, PRN, EPS in the filter list).
