What you attached is a JPG, so it is a bitmap, not nodes to edit.

>From Xara try exporting to EPS, AI, or any other vector format.

Another way could be to print to a PostScript printer as a Print to File.
Save as PS, and import into DRAW using the PS Interpreter filter. Also use
this filter to import EPS's if you want to edit them.

Your logo would be ideal for Expression 3.3 or Acrylic.

I also have trial versions of both pgms (Xtreme and Draw 12) and would be
interested to hear how other two people find the two. Any strong
likes/dislikes for either, e.g.

Hello Jon,
If this is thing you are not actually working on, could you post the Xara
file?

Now why didn't Corel buy Xara out reather the Microgrphix?

Yes, It's just an example. I was going to try and take it into draw and then
attach that but the AI, EPS, WMF and any other formats I tried all came out
with problems. I think the filter I used on the O and the 3 caused problems
for the formats. I don't have a PS printer installed. Any other choices.

I have Draw 10 and 9. Have been using both for years. I like the quick
redraw and the filters it comes with. I also like that you can apply these
filters to vectors and everything remains editable.

Hello Jon,
Thank You!

Have you tried the CMX filter? Xara will export CMX. Sometimes, with certain
effects (bevel, emboss) the files come into Draw as bitmaps.

I am unable to open your Xara file.

Jon

It is the new Xara extreme free download. If you don't have the newest
version then you probably can't.

Also, I tried CMX but the effects used didn't come out in the Corel opened
version.

I have bought Xara Xtreme. Very nice. I love the new live effects. I assume
that is how you made the logo.

You could download an install a PostScript printer driver as a print to file
printer. It will help you in many situations when file may have problems
like this, so it is good to have it handly.

I could but since I work primarily in Corel draw and not for commercial
reasons as of yet I'm not going to risk to many new things on my very old
and touchy computer. 5 years and still running

It will not compromise your system performace in any way, and you will have
a tool on hand that will help you.

Xara Xtreme's performance demands are quite minimal. A 486 with Win95 could
run it, if I remember the system requirements correctly.

Walterius we are talking about installing a PostScript driver as a Print to
File and use it as a bridge between Xara and DRAW via PostScript Interpreter
filter.

mine is an old gateway, 800mhz AMD. 256 Ram.

The reason I don't want to add any new drivers is that keeping the ones I
have working has become a problem at times. I need a new computer I'm
looking at mid level laptops.

If I can import using EPS then I mide as well try that first, besides my
trial version will run out in about 5 days so I"m not terribly worried. Just
thought I'd try the product out for future purchase. I just wanted to
transfer to corel to see if the effects would convert to vectors. Also I"m
wondering if the effects that are included with the trail can be loaded into
say, photopaint and used indefinitly. I'll find out sometime.

Thanks you for the advice, if and when I do buy Xara I will definitely find
a Postscript driver, do you know any good printers that I can download the
driver for. I would want one that works well and will work with my system.

My apologies. I misunderstood. I thought we were comparing the two pgms.

Well I am trying to compare the two programs, but Corels versitility seem to
be much broader. I can't use Xara for much else but vector graphics. Corel
does much more in my view, but the issue of being able to transfer editable
logos and such from Xara to a Draw layout would make it a viable purchase
for me.
