Problem Deleting AI file in Vista

| After I saved an AI file, I can't delete it after one day. I have window vista home professional. Does anyone have this problem? How do I fix it? I have a bunch of AI files in my drive now that I can't delete. It gave me a msg to tell me that someone is o
pening/using the file and if I want to save it I have to pick another name. If I want to delete it, I can't because someone else is using it... I don't share this file or on a server of any kind.
Thanks. Liz.

| Ms. Clause:
You should always give your Illustrator version when posting a question, but I would bet you are using one older than CS2. This is because there was a glitch in Windows Explorer that caused this problem. Microsoft refused to fix it, so Adobe disabled Expl
orer thumbnails for CS2 (and later versions) and supplied the Bridge program.
If this is your problem, then Microsoft didn't fix the problem for Vista. There are a variety of workarounds, but the simplest is to do a search (including hidden files and folders) for aiicon.dll and change its name to aiiconold.dll (or whatever), and re
boot. You will loose thumbnails while the dll is turned off, but you will be able to delete. If this is not the problem, I don't know. Good luck.

| Yeah, what Stephen said. Plus, this has been asked many times on this forum. Please search for solutions in the future before posting.

This fix worked perfectly! I'm running Illustrator 10 and was unable
to delete various .ai files. Now I have no problems, at all.
Thanks!
