Couple of questions on CS3 ~ if I have AI CS suite and want to only upgrade the AI portion to CS2 or CS3 will the other programs that came with the CS work with the upgraded version? Also, any comments on bugs or plusses in buying either would be apprecia

Please check before upgrading - you can't upgrade part of a suite. You have to upgrade the whole suite. If you wish to just upgrade Illustrator you need to have a stand alone version as well.
