Author Chart spreadsheet error: scientific notation

When I type numbers into the chart spreadsheet in Illustrator CS2, if a number is up to 6 digits, it is fine. if it is 7 or more digits, in the edit box a scientific notation appears, instead of the plain number: ie.

1. I type 1000000 and 1e+006 gets written. In the cell is still 1000000, but when I want to edit that number, I have to edit 1e+006

2. I type 34242400 which is what is in the cell, but in the edit box 3.42424e+007 appears.

I don't know how to change this so that the plain number is in the edit box. I didn't have this problems in Adobe CS or before. It makes editing numbers very difficult

Thanks, Etana Finkler
This is on a PC Win XP, just reimaged, and CS2 just reinstalled, but the error is still here.

Been 4 days and I have gotten no response. I wonder if my question isn't clear.

In the spreadsheet:
I type 34242400 which is what is in the cell, but in the edit box 3.42424e+007 appears

Is there somewhere in the program preferences, etc, where I can change it so that the whole number 34242400 appears, not the exponential number?

thanks, Etana

Etana,

The question is clear enough, but I believe few work with spreadsheets (which were not included in 10), so you may have to wait some time for an answer; keep reviving it when it sinks too deep.

By "spreadsheet" I mean the graphing/charting function in Illustrator. I can't remember when Illustrator didn't have the ability to make charts.

I'm not sure, Jacob, what spreadsheet you're talking about that wasn't included in 10)...

But all I am doing is creating simple bar charts, but when I enter large numbers, they are converting to exponential numbers. The chart displays fine, but I cannot edit the numbers when they are written exponentially: 3.42424e+007 instead of 34242400 in t
he edit box.

thanks, Etana
p.s. If I don't get replies today, I am going to re-post this with a different title, as a new message. thanks in advance, to all!

Etana,

In 10, as soon as you reach 1,000,000, you get the scientific notation; but you can still insert new values the way you wish.

Is that a fact! Didn't know. Well, perhaps I can use decimels and change it to thousands, ie:
34242400 I can type this data as 34242.4 and have the graph y-axis say (number in thousands).

A good workaround, if that is the answer. Thanks!
Etana

p.s. is that written in the documentation anywhere?

Etana, you are welcome.

p.s. is that written in the documentation anywhere?

I have not seen it.
