I've got an Epson 1270 connected to my Mac and can access all of the things you mention as follows. At the bottom left of the 'Print' dialogue window, next to the 'Page Setup' button, is the 'Printer' button. Click on this and you should have access to al
l of the controls for your printer, including paper type, print quality, etc.

Yeah... The third dropdown from the top in the OS Print dialog is what you're looking for, Bert, and you get there, as David explains, by using the Printer button in the application's Print dialog.

Some simple applications, such as TextEdit, take you directly to the second Print dialog when you File | Print.

(We're assuming OS X here, of course.)

Harron:

Can you elaborate, I am clueless on a mac so I need a little more direction. What exactly does the dropdown contain?

Here's the Command+P print dialog in AI 12 running on a Mac:

Here's what you should get when you click on the 'Printer' button in the previous dialog. The third dropdown to which I referred earlier is highlighted:

The dropdown will give you access to a variety of print-time options. They will vary with printer (driver), and I'm sorry I don't have something closer to what you might see with an Epson 1280.

Keep in mind that the various print options are going to be organized differently than in the Windows version driver and that there might not be a one-to-one correspondence with all options available on the Win side. Moreover, your options will likely als
o depend on whether you're connected to the 1280 directly via USB or via a network. Some features, such as ink level indication, might not be available if you print via a network.

Hope that helps.
