| Hello, when I tried to use the pathfinder (Intersect shape areas) on the school. It did not work, every option in the pathfinder gave the same result. Just the two paths joind together. Here home, it works fine.
How do I resolve this?

| Are you in artwork, rather than preview, view?

| Hello, I tried this at home. And it made a difference, but on my school, it still not work. When I toggle ctrl+y the pathfinder (Intersect shape areas) just join the two paths. In both preview and edit mode. What should I do to make the Intersect shape ar
eas work?

Every button in the Pathfinder Pallete giving the same result qualifies as strange, and therefore suggests resetting your AIPrefs file. See FAQ#2 in Illustrator FAQ at the top of the forum list.
Caution, your reference to a school computer suggests that you might be one of many users, and there will be an AIPrefs file for each user. steve

| Hi,
Do you know when Illustrator cs3 will be released , soon or within some years ? I hesitate to buy cs2 because of this.

| Hello, I tried what you said, to reset the preference file. With no luck. When I try the pathfinder, it creats a compound, but it only put those two paths`s in that compound. As I would put them in the same folder, nothing else happens...

I read this thread again and I am unsure as to what you have done and what you expect to happen. If you overlap two rectangles, select them both, and click Intersect Shape Areas (third button top row) in the Pathfinder Palette (not the Effect menu), only
the overlapping parts of the rectangles should show when the compound is deselected (expand it to make it permanent). Before making the compound each of the components should be labeled as a Path in the Appearance Palette. steve
