| Nubbie here. Decent w/ PS Pro - All thumbs w/ AI, but trying to learn.
I have JPG images in PantShop Pro that I have to cut and paste into an
AI file I am building.
I am successful with copying and pasting as rectangles; however, I
cannot figure out how to c&p 'non-rectangular' (round or irregular
shaped) images.
Please help.
And thank you.

| Found this in a much earlier ('dead') post and it was GREAT. THANKS A
LOT. BIG TIME. Like magic.
Except: In PaintShop Pro the option to choose to save at step 5 is
".emf" file. I tried a cpl of the others and they wouldn't do it, and
there is no "PSD" option... at least in my program.
So here is the deal... I THINK. It seems to be working. I have edited
Scott_Falk's post to add that.
THANKS. Man am I glad I found this group.

How to create transparency around an image ( I am using Photoshop CS
and Illustrator CS)
1: Open jpeg in Photoshop.
2: CUT out image from background.
3: Open a new file and make sure you choose transparent background.
4: PASTE image onto this new file w/transparent background.
5: Pull down HELP menu and choose Export transparent image, make
selections as necessary and choose destination where you want it saved
and name file.
In Illustrator Open file where you want to place your image.
Go to File, Place, and choose the file you want to place.
Your image should have a transparent background. :)

Better: Replace step 5 with "Save as PSD file"
EDIT:
Except in PhotoShopPro...
the option to choose to save at step 5 is ".emf" file.
