Hello,

I would like to use Illustrator as a way of designing helmets I paint.
So far I sketch my designs on paper.. Modifying drawing is sometimes
not clean compared to an undo when using a software. From what I have
read Illustrator could be a software I could use for this purpose.

What I want to do is generate templates from pictures of helmet. I was
thinking of taking pictures of raw helmets (not painted), then
vectorize these pictures, then use them as templates on which I would
apply custom layouts.

Is illustrator the right tool for doing this? HOw do I do thi? How do I
convert images into vectors so they are eay to work on (i.e paint
shapes and colours on them).

Thanks!
