How can i convert a pdf document to a document that i can edit?
do i begin by copy/paste that document into a 'new' document in illustrator 10.0?

You won't restore the PDF to a fully editable document without much work. you can open a PDF in Illustrator, but what you get is what you get. PDF is an export format, like flattened TIFFs from Photoshop.

Thank you Scott.

I found what i was looking for and it is editable.
One question. when i try to open it it says it must substitute 3 fonts. I went to control panel and fonts and those fonts are not there. do i import these fonts b4 i open that document? i want to make sure that i do not loose the original integrity of the
original fonts:
Franklin Gothic Heavy
Beach Normal
Eurostile Regular
Can you tell me how i obtain these fonts and then bring them into Illustrator - or when i obtain them are they automatically available in Illustrator?

Great thanks!~
