Author increasing and decreasing graphics

When I increase a graphic that was created in sections and grouped, it does not stay consistent in size. For example, there is more space between sections when I enlarge it and then no space in between sections when I make it smaller. I know that there is
a way to make it consistent whether large or small but I don't remember how. Can you remind me? Thanks, Diane

Diane:

I think we need a little bit more information.

1. Increase/decrease how ?

2. Do the strokes stay the same when you increase/decrease?

3. Sections?

What I mean is:

I created a house by creating a square, a triangle and and rectangle. When I enlarged it, the spaces between the three objects increased. When I decreased it, the spaces between the three objects disappeared. This happened once before when I used an older
version of Illustrator. I know that there is a setting to keep the object consistent when enlarging or decreasing but I don't remember what the setting is. Thanks, Diane
