can't save as an .ai file

| I am working on a very complicated logo (Ill 9.0. WinXP). When I try to save it as an .ai file, it tells me that "Abode PDF file format is having difficulties (ELIO)", and won't save anything. Oddly enough, it WILL save the same file as an .eps. I never i
mported, saved as or anything with any PDF. What gives?
I've tried uninstalling, and reinstalling Illustrator, but it gives me the same message. Seems to me like there is something embedded in the file that Illustrator can't deal with. Any idea how to find it/elliminate it?
Thanks in advance,
Phil

| Phil, I would suggest a search for 'PDF file format is having difficulties', or just 'PDF is having difficulties'; there have been a number of threads which may be related.

| Have you got a font on the page that might be corrupted?
You could try copying and pasting the logo in stages (different elements) onto a new page and saving that as a new file, until you get to the element with the problem.
